We are an organisation endorsed by political leaders and we sit on the All Wales Perinatal Mental Health Steering Committee, we are the organisation that is changing the face of perinatal mental health recovery in Wales with our lived experience approach.

We are an organisation that prides ourselves on good quality support and training, all volunteers will be trained to the highest of standards in perinatal mental health.

Who are we looking for??

We are recruiting for reliable mental health support group volunteers and facilitators to work in our Recovery Hub every Monday in Llandaff North, Cardiff.

Maternal Mental Health Support Volunteers

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Birth trauma group facilitators
  • Delivering Enjoy your Baby CBT course
  • Delivering Enjoy your Bump Antenatal course
  • Mentoring parents through listening, supporting and caring

Personal Specifications:

  • Previous volunteering experience is ideal, however we will consider anyone who is keen to learn
  • Must have an empathetic attitude to mental health and/or addiction recovery.
  • Experience of working in the mental health field or substance misuse an advantage.
  • Must be available to work Mondays.
  • Regular progress checks and training will be given.
  • Must have experience and be able to work a Monday.
  • Regular progress checks and training will be given.

 

Relapse Prevention Support Volunteers 

Key responsibilities:

  • Relapse prevention group facilitators
  • You will be required to plan and deliver Relapse prevention sessions to parents with a past history of substance misuse.
  • Mentoring parents through listening, supporting and caring

Personal Specifications:

  • Previous volunteering experience is ideal, however we will consider anyone who is keen to learn

  • Experience of working in the mental health field or substance misuse an advantage.

Volunteer Crèche Nurse

Alongside our parent’s recovery hub, we have opened a Charity run Crèche, every Monday where parents can drop their children off for the day. To support the running of our crèche, we are now looking for volunteers to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in a childcare and educational environment or simply someone who enjoys working with children.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the daily run of the crèche
  • Adhering to the Policies and Procedures of the Creche
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Caring for and supervising the children, ensuring their physical, emotional and intellectual needs are met at all times
  • Regular record-keeping of development and observations
  • Developing strong working relationships with parents and communicating about children’s development
  • Offering all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenge situations where racism or discrimination is displayed.
  • Positive management of children’s behaviour
  • Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment
  • Being a good role model for Children
  • Keeping accident, incident and health and safety records accurate and up to date

Personal Specification:

  • Given the nature of our services some children may have learning/behaviour and/or psychological difficulties so you must be caring, patient and a keen learner.
  • Experience of working with children essential, students studying for a child development, child psychology or teaching qualification would be an advantage.
  • Volunteers must hold an enhanced DBS check – reimbursable after 6 months of volunteering with us.
  • Must be available to work a Monday.
  • Regular progress checks and training will be given.

  1. I have retired from Whitchurch Hospital (2013) worked in the field of Domestic violence (mainly administration for MARAC). My department was Forensics, working with Social Workers, Community Nursing, Psychiatrists and Psychologists. All administration duties. Dealt with patients on reception, not fazed by difficult people or people with mental health issues! Willing to do 2 days a week in a voluntary capacity.
